Lisa Gates and Alex Shalman - Practical Personal Life Design

2 great writers - 2 different coasts! Here are 2 more Personal Publishers we got to meet at the SOBCon07 conference in Chicago.  Alex Shalman -  Personal Practical Development and Lisa Gates - Life Design.

From the East Coast, Alex Shalman! Alex  is a 22 year old student with a relatively young blog, that is growing very quickly. His interests include reading personal development books, having life study sessions with friends and teaching. He currently holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and is working to obtain a Masters in Biomedical Sciences. The next steps of his life will lead him to entrepreneurship as well as dentistry. He wants to continue his family legacy, by being a 5th generation dentist and taking dentistry to another level. That means going beyond the 9-5 with franchising, mentoring, dental education programs, real-estate and public speaking. WOW! And only 22!

His current personal development experience is approximately 4 years worth of reading, audio tapes and seminars in the field of personal development, nutrition and psychology. He developed a passion to give back to the community which he does by sharing his knowledge in a condensed, easy to understand, and practical format with the intention that anyone will be able to use his experience to their benefit.

He is committed to constant and never ending improvement, which means that each and every day of his life will play a role in his journey instead of wasting away in front of the tube, or worse. Most importantly he has a commitment to his readers to give them his 100% and to use what influence he has for the greater good of all.

On the West Coast, we have Lisa Gates! Her blog is best summed up on her very first entry, Scaffolding: The Architecture of Completion. As a coach, I have a lot of conversations with people about completion, or more specifically the lack of completion. I have an equal number (lots) of conversations about beginnings.

"I am not sure which is more difficult, beginning or staying the course, but one thing is certain: the lack of both results in nothing.

Over the years it became evident to me that acting and writing are built on parallel principles of language and structure brought alive by rigorous attention to detail.

The reason I write, the reason I coach, and the reason I blog, is to be present for the  “aha” moment, the “yes” that comes from inspiration, movement and transformation."
