Marianne Williamson – A Return To Love

Marianne Williamson took the country by storm with her first book, A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course In Miracles and is to date the biggest selling book of interpretation of the spiritual thought system found in the book A Course In Miracles. Most estimates claim that A Return to Love has sold in excess of three million copies, making it not only the best selling book of ACIM interpretation but one of the best selling self-help books of all time. It was one of the first books OPRAH endorsed on her show.

The book sits on my night-stand and has sat there for  over10 years! It is my bible of choice. I have read it countless times, highlighted it to death and keep it nearby when I need to read something inspiring just before bed. And I always keep extra copies on hand. When I know someone going through some kind of life-struggle, I give them a copy, in hopes that it will inspire them also.

Since we were children, she explains, we were taught that we’re seperate from other people, that we have to compete to get ahead, that we’re not quite good enough the way we are. We were taught to see the world the way that others had come to see it, full of fear, without gentleness or hope.

A Return To Love is a spiritual travel guide for our journey back to the truth we were born with. In one of my favorite passages, she speaks about goals. The process of focusing the mind on a particular set goal, may in fact manifest itself for you – but perhaps we are selling ourselves short. Perhaps the universe had something bigger in store for us. She tells us we need to shift our thinking from a “get” mentality to a “give” mentality.  When our desire is to give instead of get, our willingness to give directs the universe to give to us.

The book covers many fascinating and enlightening topics around relationships, work, money, our body and Heaven and Hell. If you have never read this book, I encourage you do so! It will change your way of thinking!
